Today is Malu’s 11th birthday, 11 years since I got sick one month before my scheduled due date; the news of my husband, my dad and my brother being attacked at the farm made me sick to the point my blood pressure went up and my little one had to come out early…

Today she is a happy child, a kid who grows safe in this wonderful community of the Pacific Northwest, we live in Bothell, she plays piano, plays softball, and mostly, she plays with Veronica, her little sister.

We now have a powerpoint presentation with my actual name, a draft marketing plan to present the idea to our best friends, we want them to be part of this journey; we met them when we were new to the country and our friendship has grown through these ten years; we want to be a small business of friends and family from within our community.

I keep reading about coffee roasting, learning cupping, practicing my aroma selection each day in the little wooden box; Jorge and I keep talking to people who know business, to entrepreneurs; our hopes grow…

Throughout this year and basically in secret, I have been learning about coffee roasters, brands, sizes, techniques; now that we are maturing from the dreamful idea into something that could be a business, it is time to get serious and look at how we could really roast good coffee.

Only a few days before I head to Idaho, and I am excited because Keri, my best friend has offered to ride with me! I can’t believe it, I just hope the hotel has a good Wi-Fi connection 😉 she needs to work, She is the sweetest, we are so excited also about the possibility of us starting a business, may be together; my husband, my friends, I just feel grateful for the support I am getting.
